Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick may have been married for 14 years and have three adorable children, but the "New Year's Eve" actress confesses that she didn't always dream of marriage and babies.
"It wasn't that I didn't want it. I just wasn't one of those girls who dreamt of her wedding day and the birth of her first child," she told the Telegraph's Stella magazine.
It may not have been the dream, but it's now her life --and a busy one at that. But despite the fact that most women also juggle a career and family, the magazine wanted to know if she wasn't working for financial reasons, then why does she work at all?
"For me it has been hard to say no [to work]. I wanted a family but before I had a family I was a career person," she explained. "I've tried to marry those two things and sometimes it is successful and sometimes it is not."
But she's not without help, besides the nannies she employs, there's her husband who she says does a lot for family -- including shopping and cooking for everyone.
Still her marriage hasn't been perfect and she admits to the magazine that "kids can really distract you from your relationship."
"Maybe in good ways and bad ways," she continued. "It's important to have all eyes on all parts of the relationship."
The 46-year-old actress explains that she and Broderick have been together for 20 years and she expects that they'll have both good and bad days.
"That's a marriage. That's a relationship. That's a friendship, even -- relationships outside the marriage run the same course," she explained. "If you're in it for the long haul and you want meaningful relationships you are going to go through lots of different periods."
